How Does Ask Jeeves Search Engine Works?

Search engine is define as a  program that searches documents for specified keywords and returns a list of the documents where the keywords were found.

Ask Jeeves is a search engine based on “natural or human language” and allows searchers to enter queries in the form of a question and get an answer, not just a list of documents holding the words.  According to ask.com (itself), Teoma has been the heart of Ask Jeeves search technology since 2001. The power of the Teoma algorithm, now known as ExpertRank, makes Ask Jeeves one of the world's most powerful and unique search engines. Two significant events helped develop Ask Jeeves search technology. First, in 1999, Ask Jeeves acquired Direct Hit, a Massachusetts company that had developed the world's first "click popularity" search technology, which was licensed to MSN and Lycos, among others. Second, in 2001, Ask Jeeves acquired Teoma, a 10-person start-up out of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and its unique index and search relevancy technology. Teoma was the first, and is still the only, major search technology based upon the clustering concept of subject-specific popularity: ExpertRank. In fact, Teoma means "expert" in Gaelic. (Retrieved from http://sp.uk.ask.com/en/docs/about/webmasters.shtml) In 2006 the company phased Jeeves out of its website and changed the homepage to Ask.com

Kung bakit natural language at kung bakit sinasabing, ask search engine yields good answers to popular questions, ito ay dahil nakadepende ito sa human editors na s’yang pumipili ng best answers. Ask Jeeves is under Meta search engine category kung saan it queries other search engines and then combines the results that are received from all. In effect, the user is not using just one search engine but a combination of many search engines at once to optimize Web searching.
How does it works? Ask Jeeves uses a natural language search algorithm to search for the users answer. It does this by using a programmed computer logic that allows the program to pinpoint the keywords in that sentence. The program will then search for those keywords just like any other search engine.
the user simply has to type in the question that they are looking for an answer. This type of search is beneficial to people who aren't that familiar with using internet search engines lalo na sa kids.
Reginald Jeeves is a fictional character in the short stories and novels of P. G. Wodehouse. Both the name "Jeeves" and the character of Jeeves have come to be thought of as the quintessential name and nature of a valet, butler, or chauffeur, inspiring many similar characters (as well as the name of the Internet search engine Ask Jeeves). A "Jeeves" is now a generic term in references such as the Oxford English Dictionary. (retrieved from http://uk.ask.com/wiki/Jeeves) Anong konek nito? Iniisip kasi naming kung bakit ask jeeves ang ipinangalan sa search  engine na ‘to.Kung papansinin ang meaning nito, oo nga, ang “Jeeves” ay suitable na pangalan ng search engine  dahil ito ay  question answering service that delivers the best answers from  the web and real people.
