Differences of InfoTech, InfoSys and ComScie

Computer Science? Information Technology? Information System? Lahat ‘yan ay fields or courses associated with computers. Let’s differentiate them.

Information Technology
IT (http://www.techterms.com/definition/it) refers to anything related to computing technology, such as hardware, software, the Internet or the people that work with these technology. So, kung IT ka, 'yan ang fields na pag-aaralan mo. Eh, course ang pinag-uusapan, therefore, IT concerned primarily with taking existing hardware and software components and designing a larger system to solve a particular business functions.

Information System
IS are business oriented and focus on the application an implications of computing in the business domain aiming a balance between theoretical foundation and practical application, harmonizing the demand pull and technology push developments in the field, and taking process modeling, architecture design and software management as focal areas.

Computer Science
Computer science is the blending of principles, theories and applications of the  technologies that underlie the access to information. 'Pag comSci may algorithm. "pag sinabing algorithm, ito 'yung specific set set of instructions for carrying out a procedure or solving a problem. Dito mo pag-aaralan ang structure, mechanization at expression of algorithm at kkung paano magdesign ng software program and how to run a successful software development team. Dito din pag-aaralan ang Automata and Language Theory, Programming Language and Compiler, Modeling and Simulation. Ayun na nga, theory, numerical methods, modeling and simulate.

Magulo pa ba? Let's Compare pa.

The main difference between information technology and information systems (IS) is that IS are  business oriented and focus on the applications and implications of computing in the business domain. IT does not focus on a single domain in which IT is practiced, but instead focuses on the selection, integration and deployment of computing technology.

IS requires the business skills to thrive in the Board Room and learn enough about the technology to make sound strategic decisions. On the other hand IT generally consists of planning and deploying networking infrastructure or integrates databases or builds significant Web sites. In layman's terms IS deals with the business side of technology as IT deals with the technical side. Computer scientists study problems to determine if they can be computed, compare algorithms to decide on the best solution, create programming languages to express these algorithms, design and build computer systems to execute specifications from research, and apply algorithms to application domains, or sets of software systems that share design features.

Sabi nila, mas mahirap ang ComSci pero it alway depend on how you move with the flow. Hehehe! :)
